David is an experienced mining engineer with more than 35 years experience, 11 of which was with world-class mines and the remainder with SRK Consulting. He was the Managing Director for SRK's office in Russia for 16 years and helped initiate the update in Federal Regulations for Open Pit slope designs in 2021. In his current role David helps clients to develop practical steps towards achieving the Carbon Reduction strategies, mapping out the contribution of renewable energy, the electrification of transportation, the savings achieved through a holistic strategy, methane capture and improved efficiencies.
Developing a practical Carbon Reduction strategy
In 2022 I provided an overview of the various opportunities available to reduce carbon emissions. This year I will provide a more detailed overview of the steps and actions required to achieve the national targets. This will consider the immediate opportunities arising from national grid suppliers switching from coal to wind and solar, the challenges with the electrification of haulage, and the opportunities from a holistic perspective to energy use, as well as the emergence of new technologies to help achieve net zero.
