In 2022 Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) increased its production of alumina while reducing primary aluminum
In 2022, Kazakhstani mining company Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) slightly increased its production of alumina while reducing primary aluminum, according to the company’s statement.
Aluminum of Kazakhstan, a subsidiary of ERG, produced 1.338 million tonnes of alumina in 2022, compared to 1.315 million tonnes in 2021.ERG’s electrolysis plant in Kazakhstan also saw a decrease in primary aluminum production, producing 249,000 tonnes in 2022 compared to 262,300 tonnes in 2021.
The company’s ferroalloy plants produced 1.707 million tonnes of ferroalloys in 2022, up from 1.686 million tonnes in the previous year.ERG was formed in 2014 after consolidating the assets of the troubled Eurasian National Resources Corporation (ENRC), which was involved in industrial raw materials mining in Kazakhstan and Africa. This was due to a collapse in ENRC’s share price, corruption investigations, boardroom conflicts, and falling raw material prices.
ERG, registered in Luxembourg, brings together ferroalloy, iron ore, aluminum, coal, power generation, and transportation and logistics companies in Kazakhstan. Additionally, the company owns copper and cobalt assets in Africa and iron ore mines in Brazil.
