2022 has become a year of new challenges for ERG Kazakhstan
In 2022, ERG Kazakhstan faced new challenges due to the geopolitical situation, but the group’s enterprises continued to work and fulfil their obligations to all stakeholders. Despite difficulties with logistics and spare parts procurement, ERG Kazakhstan paid 410 billion 387 million tenge of taxes to the country’s budget and invested more than 380 billion tenge in the modernization and development of production in Kazakhstan.
The group’s enterprises produced various types of products, including ferroalloys, iron ore raw materials, alumina, aluminum, coal, and electricity. The production figures for all types of products, except iron ore, increased or remained at the level of 2021.ERG Kazakhstan continued to implement the ERG Environmental Strategy projects in various divisions, such as the construction of the ERG Green sludge processing plant, the construction of a wind farm in Khromtau, and the phased reconstruction of three ash trapping units at the Aluminium of Kazakhstan JSC combined heat and power plant.
The company also continued its educational projects, including the development of secondary and vocational education, the popularisation of engineering education and digital technologies, and the development of entrepreneurship among students.ERG Kazakhstan allocated 43 billion 884 million tenge for charity and social programs in 2022, an increase of 65% compared to 2021.
The company also continued the practice of signing Memorandums of Mutual Cooperation with the akimats of the regions of presence and allocated 30 billion tenge to the Kazakhstan Khalqyna Fund. ERG Kazakhstan’s employees received increased wages, with a 30% increase for working specialties, and the company allocated 70 billion tenge for this purpose. The initiative budgeting project Tugan Qala was expanded and scaled, covering five settlements in 2022, and ERG Kazakhstan organized a tour of Astana Opera to its hometowns, with over 4,000 residents of these regions visiting adult and children’s performances. According to Alexander Mashkevich, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ERG, each step towards the company’s goals corresponds to its values and mission – to be the best in what it does and to ensure the prosperity of those who rely on ERG.
