Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have expanded cooperation in the field of ecology and environmental protection
Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Brekeshev S.A. took part in the delegation as part of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Tokayev K.K. to the Republic of Uzbekistan on December 21-22, 2022.
During the visit, an Agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation in the field of ecology and environmental protection.
This Agreement is aimed at improving cooperation in monitoring the state of the environment, including the implementation of joint water sampling, analysis and exchange of water quality data and regulatory documents. At the same time, the Agreement will expand cooperation in the field of environmental protection, including the organization of reforestation, as well as the fight against soil and vegetation degradation.
In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the State Forestry Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of forestry, which is aimed at strengthening cooperation to combat drought, preserve and restore existing forests. The document also provides for joint work on phytoforestry restoration of the dried bottom of the Aral Sea, sustainable management of biodiversity, development of ecotourism, as well as innovative technologies in the forest fund.
