The Prime Minister reappointed as the Chairman of Samruk-Kazyna Fund Board

Alikhan Smailov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, the fund’s press service reports .
The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan adopted a new resolution , according to which the board of directors of the fund includes:
- Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Chairman of the Board of Directors;
- First Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Member of the Board of Directors;
- the first head of the central authorized body for state planning – a representative of the sole shareholder of the National Wealth Fund “Samruk-Kazyna” joint-stock company, a member of the board of directors;
- Chairman of the Board of Joint-Stock Company “National Wealth Fund “Samruk-Kazyna” – Member of the Board of Directors;
- Bolat Zhamishev – independent director;
- Luca Sutera – independent director;
- John Dudas is an independent director.
In 2020, amendments came into force, according to which the chairman of the board of directors of the Samruk-Kazyna fund was elected by secret ballot from among independent directors. On this basis, this post was held by John Dudas.
Prior to this change, according to the charter of the fund, the chairman of the board of directors was the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In particular, in 2019 this position was held by former Prime Minister Askar Mamin.
