For foreign citizens

To enter the Republic of Kazakhstan, foreign citizens require a visa, a PCR test and permission from the Interdepartmental Commission. Citizens of 57 countries do not require visas and permits. Foreign citizens must complete a “Notification of the foreigner staying” on the Visa-migration portal of the Republic of Kazakhstan https://vmp.gov.kz/en within 3 working days of their arrival.

Do I need a visa?

From 1 January 2022, Kazakhstan resumed the visa-free regime for citizens of 57 countries.

Citizens of these countries can stay in Kazakhstan without a visa for up to 30 calendar days at each visit. The number of visits is unlimited. However, the total period for such visits should not exceed 90 calendar days within a 180-day period.

Under the visa-free regime, foreign citizens can visit Kazakhstan for tourist, private and short-term business purposes. At the same time, business trips may include meetings and negotiations, the conclusion of contracts, as well as participation in conferences and forums.

For citizens of other countries, a visa is required to enter Kazakhstan. Detailed information is published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Do I need MVK permit?

The MVK entry permit is not required for citizens from the following countries:

How do I obtain an MVK entry permit?

The process of obtaining an MVK entry permit can take up to 10 working days.

Do I need a PCR test?

From January 17, 2022, all passengers (including vaccinated passengers) arriving in Kazakhstan from foreign countries will have to provide a PCR certificate with a negative test result for COVID-19 (the certificate is considered valid within 72 hours from the date of collection of the material until the moment of crossing the border of the Republic of Kazakhstan). The certificate must be in English, Russian or Kazakh (the certificate is valid both in paper, and electronic media, enough on a smartphone).
