A plant for the production of cathode copper is planned to be launched in East Kazakhstan region

Topical issues of the development of the mining and metallurgical complex were considered at a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov, the press service of the head of government reports.

In particular, plans were discussed for the construction of a copper smelter with a capacity of 300 thousand tons of cathode copper per year in the East Kazakhstan region. The implementation of the project will attract significant foreign investment and new technologies to Kazakhstan, as well as create more than a thousand permanent jobs. The new plant is expected to make a significant contribution to increasing Kazakhstan’s exports.

The participants of the meeting touched upon the issues of taxation, electricity supply, protection of investors’ rights, attraction of foreign labor, compliance with environmental requirements and the norms of the legislation of the republic as a whole.

Following the discussion, the Prime Minister instructed the authorized state bodies to ensure active interaction with investors in order to successfully implement this promising project.
